Fin Recommendations for a Newly Certified Open Water Diver with "Trim Issues"

Just curious, what did you do with the hiking poles after you entered the open water?
If you have a buddy the buddy can slip a one piece pole under bungees on the tank.

A better way is to get a 3 piece collapsible pole, break it down and slip it under 2 bungees on your harness in front. Like on the Right side.
 
Avoid this. With every kick you are moving dead weight around.

Agree, though to a smaller extent, the same is happening if you switch to heavier fins. It's extra mass you have to move.

Either way, it's not my first choice
