I was wanting to get some opinions on the differences between Scubapro Jet Fins, IDI Turtle Fins, and Aqualung Rocket Fins.. What differentiates one from the other? Thanks...

I've never used the Turtles, I've heard they are excellent, but not as good as the Jets.

Rockets have no life, and give little propulsion for the effort expended. Jets are far superior.

I originaly got my turtles as there were not many choices when the bigger style drysuit boots came out and they were the only ones that fit.

They can provide a LOT of push providing you have strong legs and they also frog kick quite well. They are short and wide which I find is nice when wreck or cave diving and the large rubber surface area provides great traction when shuffling to the exit on a slippery dive boat back deck.

They are also heavy and I often do not need ankle weights when I use them.

Don't be afraid to look at some other companies fins that are a little more "modern" as they may also suit your needs. One of my dive buddies recently bought a pair of the new Cressi Rondine fins and has shelved his turtles as he found the Cressi's much lighter and easier to kick.

Your LDS may have some turtles or others you can demo, which is a great way to check them out before you buy them at your favorite LDS.

Talk about older is better.

After going through Force Fin Pros, and Atomic Splits I finally settled on some Turtles.

My SAC rate dropped by 30% switching form Force to Atomics and to Turtles?....60% total. They respond instantly and allow anything from an effortless frog to a flutter fast enough to damn near pull a waterskier. ;-)

Once the XXL JEtfin comes out I'll try that as well to see if it is actually an improvement although I doubt I will notice any difference.

Thanks for the responses thus far.. I currently use Cressi's Spacefrogs, and really love them.. It's just that I have been reading so much about these other fins on this board and I am starting to do a little more technical dives, I am just wondering what the differences are between the three..

You should find lots of opportunity to try em as there are tonnes of people out there diving them except for the rockets. Try Mares Quattro's as well.

My buddy bought a pair of Turtles with spring straps and I jumped in at the Marine Museum in Kingston for a quick try.

Bought a pair the next day. No regrets.

For me, that was a big plus going from my positive Genesis blue plastic econo-blades to the Turtles. Especially with the way I dive now (Dry Suit, frog kick, bent knee, feet up, etc.)

I saw a thread recently that compared Jets to the Turtles. I believe the Jets have a longer blade. They look to be longer and more flexible - especially in the GUE videos. No way those guys are kicking with Turtles... I've kicked my legs off and don't get that type of flex from my Turtle/paddles....

Looking forward to the report.

My path: Genesis (OW) to the Atomic to the Turtles. I couldn't get into the Jets with my boots. Let us know. I like the flex in the video... I don't think its power-sucking flex, you know? More like loading up a fly rod before you cast it, then leveraging the flex to explode the cast.

Let us know.
