Has anyone had any issues with the 7kg carry-on allowance flying Fiji Airways from LAX?

We're in the planning stages of a summer 2018 trip from LAX to Solomon's & Vanuatu on Fiji Airways. I've been trying to get an idea for budgeting luggage allowances. I keep my camera & accessories in my carry-on..and it weights a lot more than 7kgs! We will also be flying domestically in the Solomons & Vanuatu...trying to avoid any headaches.
If you've had any experience with this airline or flying in the Solomon Islands or Vanuatu..hope to hear from you.
Thanks!

If you are not committed to Fiji Airways, also look into Air New Zealand. They fly LAX to Nadi and may provide other options.

We just flew LAX-Nadi. Had no issues on the way there, but they were very particular about weighing everything on the way back. They did seem to be pretty accommodating about being ~1kg over on one of our carryons

Thanks for the info! I keep my camera stuff in my carry-on..this will be interesting. Are you allowed one personal item (backpack) and a carry on? ....or just one item?

We both had a carry-on and a personal item. For example, I had a backpack and my reg bag and my wife had her carry-on and her reg bag. No issues there.

Just booked LAX-NAN in business class. Yes, it was mucho dinero $$$, but on an 11 hour flight, I want some room to stretch-out and (hopefully) get some rest. Also, the up-graded checked & carry-on baggage weight allowances really surprised me...in a good way. Anyone fly business class on FijiAir ? Interested in your impressions.

My wife and I flew Business Class to Fiji last year - well worth the extra $$$ in my opinion. Seats are not fully lie-flat, but were comfortable and we were able to get a decent amount of shuteye en route. In-flight food was good, but not great. Had no issues with luggage allowances, and our carry-on bags were not weighed (we both carried our reg bags + backpack/large bag). The lounge for Fiji Airways in LAX is shared with Air Tahiti Nui and a couple other airlines, and was passable (but again, not great). The lounge in Nadi on the return leg was better than the one in LAX.
