Fiesta Americana Cozumel

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Considering booking a week in October with Fiesta Americana Cozumel
Dive Resort and was looking for feed back on that location?

Anyone provide good or bad?

Thanks

One of my favorite places to stay. It is a small resort, with Dive House right on location. The food is usually very good and plentiful. It is about half way from town to the southern reefs so it is a good location to be in the middle of everything. A cab ride to town is about $15 US and the boat ride to the reefs is about 20 minutes. It has 2 pools, one ocean side and the other by the hotel, and the hotel staff is always around to accommodate your needs.

I stayed there last July and very much enjoyed it. Room was very comfortable, pools were nice, breakfast was strong.

I would strongly reccomend a rental car (so that you can periodically frequent great restaurants in town).

Dive shop was OK, but not great. Definately convenient though.

I've been there 3 times and enjoyed it every time. The rooms are very nice, the food is ok to very good, and the service is excellent. The breakfasts are fantastic, the buffets are all right but not great, and the dinners in the sit down restaurant are very good. We always used the all inclusive package because it offered the value. The free drinks alone are worth the package. After diving we would sit under a palapa and have smoothies brought to us througout the afternoon. We never had to move to get service. We also traveled by taxi to town a couple of times during out week stay to eat at local restaurants. If you are not familiar with trip advisor, you should put it on your favorites list in your computer. We always use it for reviews of places to say. Here is a link to reviews of the Fiests Americana: Fiesta Americana Cozumel Dive Resort (Cozumel, Mexico) - Resort Reviews - TripAdvisor. If you want additional information, email me at jamescrew6@verizon.net

However, I would use another dive op than the one at the resort. We have always used Luis Cabanna, a local dive op that is excellent. Luis and Linda provide personalized service, they are very safety conscious, and they know how to find the critters in the reef. Here is his web site: http://cozumel-diving.net/luis/. We also scheduled all of our trips with Al Bay at Bay Adventures :: Dive Adventures and Island Vacations :: 888.599.3483. He provides the best prices and provides great service as well. If you find a cheaper price online or through another agency, he will try to match the price.

Regards,

Bill

Not sure if you booked this yet, but I stayed there and thought it was OK. The "nice" restaurant is nice, but the "regular" restaurant wasn't that great, especially considering the REALLY good food you can get in town. Plus, it's far from town so you'll need a cab all the time or rent a car.

If you're looking for a resort-type place or something that's not near town, then Fiesta Americana should fit the bill at its price point.

I'd highly recommend Villa Las Anclas. It doesn't have a pool, and it's a smaller hotel-type place in the middle of downtown. Stayed there for 2 weeks last year and am going back this year. Very, very friendly owners and really nice rooms. Loved it.

My first dive vacation. I spent 6 days at Fiesta Americana Cozumel. I loved it. I did not do all inclusive, but wished I had. I want to go back to Cozumel I wold stay at Fiesta Americana Cozumel and do the all inclusive route. I had good dives with Dive House. I am a new diver under 50 dives. I am also interested in why other dive operator and why or what other hotels to stay at.
I hope I did not hijack your thread.

When we consider what resort to use on our vacations we always check reviews on Hotels and Vacation Reviews - TripAdvisor. You can get a good idea of what's good and bad about a resort. If you want to check other resorts to stay out, then check this link: Cozumel Hotels: Read Cozumel Hotel Reviews and Compare Prices - TripAdvisor. Regarding dive operators, you will find a dozen that are recommended on this board. I have been to Coz 4 times and always used Luis Cabannas. Luis gives personalized dive service and is very safety conscious. Here is a link to his web page: http://www.cozumel-diving.net/luis/.

Bill
