People have said the pool tile is cracked and sharp at the fiesta americana. Do your own research if the pool is important.
Looks good!

Overall we were very pleased with our stay at FA. I seldom do trip reports anymore but since Cozumel AI is new for me I will try to do one soon. I will say just in case it is important to anyone following this thread that FA is an older structure that does show some signs of age with an indifferent paint job. But in all the ways that matter to me it was near perfect.

IMHO, its the Occidental hands down over the Iberostar! A) It's significantly cheaper. B) the rooms are bigger. C) The Iberostar has a rocky beach in the water. The Occidental does not. To be fair, the Iberostar has a better beach outside the water-it's much wider. D) I love the way the Occidental is laid out. All buildings are three story with an opening in the middle with palm trees coming out of the opening. There are around 6 rooms on each level. The Iberostar has these bungalows that sprawl all over-it's very confusing to walk all over the resort, and it's much bigger. E) I LOVE the food at the Occidental and I'm picky. Usually at lunch 2-3 a week, they can grill you something. Every night at dinner, they can grill or stir fry you something. The Mediterreanean restaurant is great!!!! Lots of salads, lots of salad bar choices! F) the staff is super friendly. I) they have a lovely small adult only pool. The only downside is that the bar cuts off at 5. The only downside is if you want to use Dressel, you must walk down the beach to dive. Although sometimes if you dive enough, they may pick you up and/or drop you off. But the walk is 15 minutes, although you do have to wade into the ocean. But I stayed 3 times and walked to Iberostar to dive every time.

... an indifferent paint job.
At least is isn't the same color as a powered up electric range element any more. I swear I could feel the heat from it every time we passed it on a dive boat. :D
