Well, less than 24 hours before our first dive.

My son and I leave Baltimore bright and early tomorrow morning, scheduled to arrive in Roatan shortly after noon. Rough morning leaving for the airport before 4:00, but not so bad knowing that we'll be in the water off the gazebo before sundown.

I'm hoping that things have settled down since the management changeover. It sounded like they were moving fast a month ago. We're not looking for luxury, but not camping, either. I'm very optimistic.

Always a struggle to guess how much cash to carry...doubly hard when it's not just me, but my son as well ('cause he'll just be bringing some great company....not so much cash). In the end, I estimated $250 for the dive crew (total from both of us), $30 for our room, and $75 for meals. I'm carrying quite a stack of small bills.

I probably won't post from there, but will give a report here when we get back. (I did notice their new website says they have wifi throughout the resort. That would be a nice improvement over just the lobby.)

I've stayed twice before next door at CocoView, so I know the diving...but the comparison in resorts and dive ops will be interesting.

Looking forward to your trip report when you return. I've been there once and plan on going back in the spring. Hope you have a great time.

Ron -

Just keep in mind that things at Fantasy Island are in a state of flux at the moment. Big improvements are being made as we speak! But with your positive outlook, I'm sure you'll be fine. There may be some minor inconveniences, but that's why you only paid $499 for the week ;) I feel quite certain you will LOVE the diving, but can't wait to hear your report when you return :D

*NOTE: I think Rich Henry will be down there with you. Please look him up and tell him the Cajuns say hello! He's a super guy and will do anything possible to help you, so keep that in mind :blinking:
