It seems that I recall hearing about a ferry transporting passengers from Florida (maybe the Ft. Lauderdale area?) to the Bahamas (not sure where...). I think it was like $99, so, cheaper than flying. Does anyone know if there is still such a thing? I'm looking to depart from anywhere on the east coast of Florida to any Bahamian or northern carribbean destination!
TIA!

I think you are thinking of this:

Discovery Cruise Line - Bahamas Cruise - Official Site - The Best Deals to the Bahamas - Bahamas Party Cruise and Vacations

I've done the trip twice (got it for free!). It's a 6 hour boat ride. Leaves real early in the morning. Mid afternoon return. We never took a room, but were quick to find shady spots on decks for the ride.

And don't bring a dive knife. They will take it before you board and give it back to you when you return....if it hasn't already been lost/taken by someone else.

Looks like the base rate is $59 RT same day, $99 RT split days, plus 50% fees? Wonder why they charge more for split days?
