February march diving Bali but where in Bali ?

Hi after Phillipines we will finish our heoliday in Bali and we'll stay there fora month or so. We'd like to setle in one place for a while. In Phillipines will be moving all over so we want some sort of home athmosphere and dive of course.
we haven't dive Lombok and Denpasar and we think muck diving somewhere in Bali is good.
Please advice.

The best muck diving in Bali, IMO is at Tulamben. The problem with February and March is that the sea conditions may not be great. Much of the diving there is from shore, and with the apple-to-grapefruit-sized stones all along the beach, if there are wind-driven waves coming in on shore from the northeast monsoon (that should be blowing at that time of year), entries and exits can be quite challenging. If you are really set on muck diving at that time of year, I'd recommend Lembeh instead. While it might be a bit rainy, diving is always great there.

Muck diving in Bali, Amed is nice, Seraya is nice. Itsd very nice for muck diving overthere.

Lombok isnt Bali, its 2 hours away from Bali by speedboat. There are around Lombok several places where u can muck dive and find the seahorses, nudis, mimics, pygmees, waspfish, ornate pipefish, wonderpus, mandarin fish etc....

Was wondering, how's the diving in Bali compared to Komodo?
I'm a bit low on money and was thinking of going to Bali instead of doing a short Komodo Liveaboard,
if the diving is similar?
And I've heard that North + Central Bali is better than southern Bali?

Haven't dived Komodo but I have heard its the bomb diggy, but I have dived Bali several times and can vouch for its excellence.

Highly recommend staying on lembongan and dive the sites in and around it and Nusa penida - manta rays, mola mola between aug-nov, occasional shark and plenty turtles, great reef quality. you can also do day trips to tulumben and dive liberty wreck and some macro sites around there!

Have heard secret bay/amed/seraya is good for muck diving and a place in the north called puri juti/permuteran is supposed to be excellent for macro too.

I have dived around sanur and Nusa dua region and it's not the best.

Maybe dive Komodo when funding allows for a quality liveaboard? There are land based options for Komodo too.

We have been to Bali and Komodo. Bali is wonderful , and great value, but Komodo is out of this world. Nusa lembongan is really really good , mainland Bali , around the liberty wreck is also very good. However for topside beauty the gili islands take some beating.

Last February I did 3 weeks diving , 5 nights in tulamben , 4 nights in lembongan and 8 on gili air and had an amazing time. The weather was great , a few evening showers some but not all days.

If you can afford it though , Komodo is even better. ..there are fewer boats, fewer people, bigger fish and more of them and far better coral.

You will have a wonderful trip whatever area you pick.

Padang Bai in East Bali is a great spot for diving both macro, coral reefs and big fish watching. All the spots in East Bali (Tulamben, Amed, Gili Tepekong/Mimpang/Biaha, Crystal Bay, Manta Point, etc) are within one hour... Very diverse diving!

For Bali Padangbai is a great place to stay, nice fishermen village with some good restaurants and accomodation. Its not to touristic, but lively enough. From Padangbai there are many nice divesites to dive. BUT the sea can be very rough that time of year, which makes no good diving...
Have you booked your tickets already? Otherwise you might consider going to Sipadan in Malay Borneo, a wonderful place to dive. Stay on Mabul Island and you'll a great time, also dive underneath the oilrig in Mabul, an alien world down there!
Borneo is easly reached from the Philipines with Air Aisia. If a month of Sipadan / Mabul is too much you can explore the site of Kota Kinabalu (half an hour flight from Tawau)...

@Nics, the sea only tends to be rough in the channel between Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, making some journeys to Manta Point and Crystal Bay difficult, but this isn't every day, AND can be unpredictable like this all year around, not just Feb/March time.
