Hey the missus is on the way to BLUE!!

With the temps headed to -20 here tonight all we keep thinking about is our dive trip Cozumel. Looking forward to some awesome diving and meeting some new friends.

Little things you might keep in mind: Probably not a good idea to fly through an airport covered in ice, like Dallas. Susanita and crew the crew intially had their first leg from BWI to Dallas cancelled. I tried to get them switched to a Miami-Cun run but that "changed the intl destination" so they couldnt do that and found her a run out of Reagan to DFW. After I dumped that crew at the airport, they began to get delayed. Finally it was to the point they would miss the conntection to CZM. Not to worry the airline guy said, the Coz plane aint in DFW either as it cant get in, so it will be late too. Well as soon as they got in the air to DFW, the CZM plane got cancelled. Not wanting to stay in icy Dallas, she landed and worked on getting a CUN flight. Guess what? When you are stuck overnight apparently changing your Intl. destination isn't so much a problem. So, I emailed the transfer guy and lined him up and all that. So, of course, they delay that flight a bunch so as to make sure they CANT make the last ferry. So as luck would have it our CZM LDS happens to be in Playa and gets them a room. Way better than sleeping in the Dallas Airport. :mostlysunny: (App for some reason most of the hotels in Dallas are a little full....) CZM for today maybe?
Meanwhile, I will try to stay upright on all the ice here.....:penguin::penguin::penguin:

A little thing to keep in mind? Being prevented from flying to Cozumel by the relentless ice and snow is all we can think about at this point! In NJ we are also covered in ice today, on top of the several feet of snow from the last few storms. Our trip to Cozumel this time last year was cancelled by weather conditions in Atlanta (we flew Delta from Newark) that were far less severe than this year nearly everywhere. This time we are flying Continental through Houston, and are holding our breath for better luck with the weather! We have planned if needed flying to Cancun and taking the bus and ferry if we do get stuck and can't replace our flight to Coz. We even planned for a 9 night trip this year specifically so that if we do get stuck for 2 days we still have a week. Here's hoping everyone can get where they need to go!

I don't think anyone is getting anywhere if you have to go through OHare. I have 2 guys working in Fort Worth and they've declared a state of emergency in the North of TX. Rolling blackouts from the power company, etc. Too much for a state that far south.

Usually we stay at Casa del Mar, or even closer to town, and avoid all-inclusives. But airfares were expensive and the air+hotel deal for Fiesta Americana seemed like the best option. And in addition to the four divers, there will be four non-divers along, who will prefer this to Casa del Mar. We'll probably bring 5mm suits for this time of the year.

I've been thinking about a trip in Feb early March, what are the conditions like that time of year. Can anything unexpected pop up ?

The land temperatures are usually more stable, averaging 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit because you're no longer in the rainy season during this time. The water temperature will be around 79-81 degrees Fahrenheit, and visibility averages 100 feet depending on whether or not a storm passed through the night before. There might be an occational storm, but otherwise no serious conflicting weather conditions.
