I found my 2 photos of your winning toadfish. Neither was anywhere near as good of a photo compared to yours. Probably because I had no clue what I was trying to photograph🤷‍♂️. Oh, well.
Congrats again
Mine was a lucky shot. I have already admitted that!
Since I was the last diver in the group to move up, to try for a shot, the poor toadfish was not about to come out and pose, so I was not sure I could get a pic, but I tried a couple quick setting changes, and used the Sola light on low, and gave it my best try.
Luck was on my side for that shot.

You got him. Crop the image a bit to shift the focus, and remove much of the distraction, and he is there!

You definitely got the toad.
Oh I knew that I got him, it just wasn't a very good photo of him. I have seen multiple toadfish but never a black spotted one so I wasn't really sure what I was taking a picture of. And I am only using my cell phone in a Sealife housing and no flash....like I said, not my best.

I hate diving with strobes. I liked your small Saelife set up.
I enjoy having a small camera that can be "stowed" in a pocket or pouch, so it is avaiable, but does not define my dive.
Diving with a strobe mounted camera determines the character of my dive as a "photo dive", and limits my options and opportunity to just enjoy the dive, unencumbered by a big rig.

It could be a bit of a hassle to dive with until I dove with my LDS owner and saw how she had clips on both sides that could be clipped into d rings on either side of the chest strap. That made it much easier. Easy access but otherwise out of the way.

Thank you.
Out of the water I have been an advanced amateur photographer since I was given my first camera, a Pentax K1000 film camera, when my son was born...... Underwater I'm still working on it.
I agree! Getting successful underwater images is so much more challenging than on land. If I get one or two that I am happy with from a dive trip, I consider it a success, but if I only got 2 good images from a week in Yellowstone I’d be very upset.
