My son graduated from New England Culinary Institude in 1995. Emeril Lagasse was the keynote speaker at the ceremony.

This was just before he became nationally fameous. He gave a very inspirational address. At the reception afterwards he was there signing his new book, "New Orleans Cooking". I got a signed copy. He was very personable when I met him. He loses some of his charm on his television show.

Dislike
Martha Stewart, die, die, die, not sure why FoodTV still shows a convicted fellon.

She will be 'jellin like a fellin' soon--- and give us great recipes on Hamburger Helper, oatmeal slop, and Koolaid, and bologna sandwich appetizers!!!! I just hope they don't give her one of those 'cell dogs' to train--- that'll be scary!

Women hate poor Martha. My wife gets the willies evertime I mention her name. (so I do it regularly)

I used Martha Stewart's recipe for 'beef Wellington'. It came out great. I didn't tell my wife where I got the recipe and she though it tasted great too. :10:

In case you haven't seen it, here's a copy of Martha Stewart's new magazine... :eyebrow:

iron chef is great, anyone see the iron chef america (flay, puck, and batali)

I don't hate Martha, so that categorization of what women think may be a bit too broad On the other hand, I wouldn't classify her as a true TV chef, but I found her "Turkey 101" very helpful as resource material.

How about Tommy Tang, though? I don't know if he is nation- or world-wide, but he's on public TV here in LA. Or what about Martin (?) Yan? Guess you know my culinary tastes now...

Ooh! I got to meet Tommy Tang, I was on a cooking show a few years ago with him in New York. He was a blast!

I just may do that. :D

Mario Batali - loved "Mario Eats Italy". Irreverant and great technique.
Iron Chefs - awesome technique and innovative food.
Jacques Pepin - beautiful simple country food and great technique.
Tony Bourdain - even though his cooking ability is limited to a hash house.
