After Spending 20 years free diving and Scuba diving in Mexico, My son and I have had an abrupt halt to our diving/hunting adventures with the Violence and uncertainty erupting immediately south of the border where we travel to get to our assorted destinations in Mexico. Warm water divers generally, we now look to new destinations/safe destinations beyond mexico and the grip of the murderous Drug Cartels out of control in southern arizona.New Mexico and Texas and into Mexico.

Oh really? Everyone I know finds that as long as you don't go to where the drugs and violence are, it stays away.

My sister and I had a fabulous time in San Carlos with a great many people from the Phoenix area. Too bad you feel you have to deprive yourself.

Hi:

Welcome. I'm sure you can find a range of other opportunities. A week long trip to Bonaire for shore diving could be a change for you. Either shore resort + charter boat trips to other destinations could also be good. My experience is with Bonaire so of course I push that, but it is worth checking into. Do a Search for 'Bonaire' and 'drrich2' and I think you'll turn up some of my 3 trip reports, which can serve as an intro. to what it's like to take a trip there.

Agreed with OP, if i had a family i wouldn't go to Mexico ALONE, much less bring them along. Just not safe. Very sad and hope the situation improves.
