Does anyone make fast acting isolation valves? Or is there a reason why the isolation valve can't be a ball valve? I know valves like that can be used in high pressure applications, so I'm curious if there's some other reason why these types of valves aren't used?

Fast acting valves are generally avoided in scuba tank applications. A rapid change in gas flow velocity in high oxygen mixes (nitrox) can lead to point heating and possible ignition. The realities of the market place dictate that all valves be of similar construction for ease of manufacture, service and parts.

Many people believe that more OOG situations are caused by a closed manifold than anything else.
