hey everyone just wondering if a two piece farmer john 6.5 m will work for diving gilboa or whitestar the first or second week of October?? thank you

I don't dive wet around here, but I would say that maybe your roughest time would be the surface interval. It takes awhile for the water to cool down, but it might still be cold in the air. Be prepared for that.

Like Dean said, the suit will be fine for the water temp. Bring a long coat or something to put over it during the surface interval to keep the wind off. White Star is ALWAYS windy, if you have some sort of shelter with sides you can put up you will be a happier diver. Bring along a winter hat and mittens for the surface interval as well, even if it's not super cold outside. They really do make a difference when you are wet and standing in 60ish degree windy weather.

I dive wet year-round here in Ohio. A 7mm farmer john with a 7mm shorty works great. Then, as Ber said, a coat and a shelter for warming up between dives helps a lot. When it is really cold (New Years Day diving for example) 2 farmer johns enables you to make 2 dives by having a dry under layer for both dives.

Absolutely. The water temps are actually not bad at all in Oct. The SI can be tough. It all depends on the weather on that given day. Catch a nice sunny day in October and it is very, very nice diving.

I hope the 6.5mm is ok, 'cause that's what I'll be diving!!!!

The water should still be warm the surface interval might be the worst. Take a long coat and a thermos of warm water to pour down the suit if you get cold. It helps

It was a November dive that convinced me that I was going to get a dry suit. The diving wasn't bad at all. And I was pretty comfortable between dives with the suit on. But when it came time to take all that wet stuff off and get dressed, I don't think I have ever been that cold. It took me quite a while to get warm again, and I don't get cold easily.
