Anybody using the FIT mount base to attach a Inon UCL to their canon G9 housing. Would apreciate any feedback.
The fitting is not a screw type so is it secure. Can you twist it off underwater?
I use some double stacked UCLs for my Canon S80 & am thinking about buying 2 Inon UCL165s for the G9.
Are you talking about the set that Reef Photo has? There are two pieces, one threads into the 67MM camera port and the other threads into the Inon/Ikelite/Epoque 67MM threaded lens and then with a quick twist you can mount your lenses. The pieces are about 60 dollars each.
OK, first off, why cannot EVERYBODY standardize a base mount bayonet system cripes, I mean really, pretty please, is this really to much to ask. The threading on and off is ridiculous underwater if even possible, good grief

.
I have the set, I purchased it to use on a secret project--lol. I tried it on my Ikelite housed Canon 570IS (the Canon 570IS rocks!!!!) with a borrowed Inon 100WAL 67MM thread on base. Well, it sets the lens elements about a 1/10 of an inch further apart. For some set ups that will cause vignetting and others maybe just soft corners. No worries, you can crop that or just zoom in a skosh and still have a much wider field of view that the stupid flat port and native lens. Easily twice as wide.
Here is an issue, the adapters are some sort of plastic, you have to thread them in very tightly because the bayonet "click" is pretty tight which means that sometimes the adapter just screws off---you follow?
I cured that issue using a couple of small blobs of pure silicone sealant, the acid free clear stuff and threaded their adapter on with it. Now it is on semi permanent. I can remove it and then carefully clean the silicone from the threads and no worse for the wear--why would I need to do that---who knows.
