I was fooling around in the pool this afternoon and I realized just how much less disorienting it is to submerge my head with eyes open versus my eyes closed.

Also, thanks to my GUE instructor Beto for working on this with me.

That is all. We now go back to our regularly-scheduled programming.

Haha...sounds about right. Do you mean with your mask on or without? I guess it never occurred to me to close my eyes, if I have a mask on. If I jump i without my mask, it's sheer instinct to close my eyes.

I always keep my eyes open underwater, but it's not as pleasant in the ocean....

Why would you submerge with eyes closed? All the way to depth? You could hit something (like the reef) or end up facing a large shark!

Eyes always closed when maskless in pool--hate that chlorine. Open in salt water, I actually like that.

Maskless. The chlorine bothers me a little, yeah, but my point is that if you are diving in the ocean or doing pool work, opening the eyes makes a big difference in keeping my mind clear and not losing buoyancy or a sense of full control. Sometimes squinting or opening one eye is enough. Even when I wear contacts.

If in a pool I find I can't open my eyes without a mask otherwise I will end up in excruciating pain from the chlorine. All mask drills were done with closed eyes.

In the sea, no great issues from minor flood to full flood or even mask replace.
