Hello all,
I live in Tulsa, OK and so far all of my diving experience has been in Lake Tenkiller, and on vacation in Key Largo.
I don't own a wetsuit, and from what I have learned from internet research, I don't think there is a perfect suit to dive near my home and also use when I go on trips to the Florida keys. So, I'm looking for opinions on what I should buy. A 7mm Farmer John for cold water & also a 3mm Shorty for Florida trips? My diving goals within driving distance from my home are Bennett Springs in Missouri and the Blue Hole in New Mexico. Any opinions are appreciated.

It really just depends on your budget, and if your a naturally warm person. I typically Dive a 5mm in the summer at Beaver and Tenkiller, going below the theromocline you'll want a pair of gloves and a hood. But if its really hot I just trunk it.
Drysuits are the way to go in the Winter if your looking to spend any amount of quality time underwater. However I also know divers who dive a one piece 7mm in our winters. I started out in a 7mm Farmer John/jacket and will again if I need any maintenance on my drysuit.
The Oklahoma Aquanauts Dive every weekend year round. We make a point to travel out of state once a month also. We actually just got back from Bennett Springs this Morning. Visibility was blown so we canceled the Sunday dive. If your not a Member check out the facebook page Oklahoma Aquanauts Public Group | Facebook we also have a meet up group and have dinner once a month. Check it out. If you already a member I hope to meet you sometime.

I will definitely be attending, thanks!
