Hello folks,

I know it’s not ideal
To go to Rajah Ampat in July but I live in the United States and July is when I have time to dive with my now 13 year old .

My wife is Indonesian and she has to go out to see her family in Aceh, We did Sabang a few years ago and a big shout out to Lumba Lumba dive resort. What a great place to dive and a good crew . They certified my son when he was 10 , no pools just house reefs and I can’t recommend that place enough. Just a great island. Hard to get to but worth it.

Year after that we did Nusa Penida and Octopus dive center was also an amazing crew .

Last year we did Komodo and had a great time, I would be happy to go back but I want to show my son new things and places before he fly’s the coop in the blink of an eye. Given school schedules etc here if we don’t go in July it will be unlikely to happen down the road for us as a family. Precious fleeting times .

I don’t need to force it if it’s unrealistic and if there are other spots to dive that people here can recommend I am open to suggestions . I was given some good pricing from a resort out in Raja for July but still expensive and a trek if the weather and diving aren’t ideal. I don’t mind if it isn’t perfect if it’s even feasible I will go . I do plan to be on Makassar for some kiteboarding , he’s been doing that since he was 10 also . So anywhere in east indonesia is available to me .

We wanted to go to Banda Neira where my wife has some family she hasn’t met but it seems the monsoon closes all of that. If anyone has been able to dive there in July please let me know. I am sure her family there will roll out the red carpet and be the nicest people on earth but that’s a week long trip to a remote spot and if we can’t dive my kid will get bored hanging around homes even while eating super delicious food while trying to understand bahasa . I’d be good with it , I can nid and say yum .

We can go North Maluku, Sulawesi anywhere out there, open to all suggestions . I just want to show him new spots and let him see his mothers homeland and appreciate where he comes from.

Thank you,

Jordan
