I asked a question before on this subject and I hoped to get more hits. It seems that not all exhaust valves are the seem. Some release air faster then others. I'm looking for one with strong ratcheting and fast air release. Also, I've read somewhere that certain models have a feature that will prevent the undergarment from glogging the valve.

In closing, I like to explain what I mean by ratcheting. I noticed some valves will turn rather easily. I want one that when put into position, it will remain there. One other note. A question for all you manufactures out there. If now it is excepted practice in the diving community to have the exhaust valve completely open during a dive, only using the BC for bouyancy control, why wouldn't you make a valve that is not adjustable and just remains open?

The Apeks high-profile valves seem to work well for me.

Others like the Si-Techs.

The Apeks LOW profile ones have been problematic for many people.

Having the exhaust valve completely open is NOT universal.
Being able to use the suit as a flotation device is a very valuable safety feature. BCs have been known to fail.
Some suits are still made without adjustable exhaust valves.
Si Tech invented the variable exhaust, theirs seem to be the most reliable as well.
Unlike some other valves, they can dump faster than their inflator will fill the suit.
