Some new exciting things coming for 2011 in Ocean City, MD with OC Dive Boat

-We have purchased a new inspected dive boat for up to 12 divers! More about the boat coming soon (the boat is currently under construction down in Florida).

-We are adding a new zone to our list of regular visited wrecks; "Zone 4" will include some deeper wrecks further offshore. Some of the wrecks in “Zone 4” include the Arthur Hall, Saetia, H Buoy, Washingtonian, Elizabeth Palmer and the Gordon Cook!

-Also coming in 2011 (hopefully....), the 564ft Navy Destroyer - USS Arthur Radford! The USS Arthur Radford will be the largest artificial reef on the east coast. The USS Arthur Radford and the Marine Electric will be classified in a Zone labeled "Zone 5" and will be available on our schedule.

-We will also be running more spearfishing trips to Winter Quarter Shoals off Chincoteague Island and the Fenwick Shoals in addition to some of our "special" spots off Ocean City.

I tried to get out with you guys a bunch of times last year and it just never worked out. I hope you do lots of Sat afternoons/late morning departures. It'd be even better if you run a lobster diving class on a sat afternoon too.

how far of a run to the expected site of the radford????
my neice lives in oc and works at the marlin club
my nephew was chief weapons officer on then last radford deploy
he's also a diver and i thought he'd be a great guide around for me!
i'll look you guys up next time down!

Sorry to hear you weren’t able to make it out last year. We will have to make sure you get in the water in 2011. Most of our Saturday AM trips will be out to Zone 4 or 3, I defiantly plan to add some more Saturday PM trips next season.

The planned sinking location of the Radford will be around 32 miles NE of Ocean City Inlet near the Moonstone Wreck in around 140 ft of water. The top deck of the ship should lay in about 60 ft of water. As of right now were looking at Springtime 2011 for the sinking so if everything goes as planned we will start running charters to the Radford in May or June. Our regular season should start early April so we will have plenty of opportunities to dive Ocean City until they sink it. Look forward to seeing you'all at the dock!

The visibility off the coast of Maryland can vary from excellent to low, it can range from 100 ft to 4 ft or less. The visibility has many factors including weather, currents and time of year. It is hit or miss, average is around 25 feet. The water in NC is warmer, here in OC most people dive 7mm suits except for in late summer where you can get away with a 5mm on the shallower wrecks.

I have lots of great info and pictures on my website, when you get a chance check it out. It should give you a better idea on what to expect. www.ocdiveboat.com
