Any idea when the excellerating and the Flying Force fins will be available? Also how does the flying force compare speed wise to the pro? I'm starting to save for a set of force fins, and am trying to decide what I want. I need the ease and speed for timed distance snorkel swims, and the durability and controle for recreation and public safety diving.

Both the Excellerating Force Fin and the Flying Force Fin were made with Tan Delta material and my understanding is that Bob does not intend to start producing fins from this material in the forseeable future. These were handmade in his shop in California by a very select crew of craftsmen and that shop is now closed - so it will take a (long) while until there will be anyone else trained to produce fins from this material. I think Bob also plans to phase out the old Tan Delta material in favor of the material used in the Hockey Fin (which is easier to kick, with no loss in performance).

As far as performance vs Pros - IF you have the leg strength to fully flex the Tan Delta material - they are both significantly quicker than Pros. Both also give superior control vs the Pros - the Flying Force Fins because of the winglets and the Excellerating Force Fins because of the whiskers. I would say that Excellerating FFs give the best control because of the adjustability of the whiskers. The Excellerating FFs are also a little easier to kick because you can adjust the whiskers to provide more speed with reduced effort.

Hope that helps - but until Bob starts producing fins in the new material, I think your Pros will do just fine.
