My wife and I just bought a couple of 3mm Xcel suits and 3mm shorties to go with. They are very comfortable and well made, and seemed like a good value. They had enough off-the-rack sizes so we both got a pretty good fit. It remains to be seen how well they hold up over time.
I tried suits from 3-4 manufacturers earlier this year and finally ended up buying two Xcel wetsuits, a 7/6/5 and a 4/3. The Henderson Hyperstretch also seemed to be a good suit but the Xcel fit me better.
We have 2 LDS in town. One recommended the Hyperstretch and one recommended the Xcel. The shop recommending the Hyperstretch never heard of the Xcel and the shop recommending the Xcel didn't sell Hyperstretch. I guess what's recommended is all about $$$ not what's a better suit.
The Xcel suits were only slightly more expesenive than the Hyperstretch.
The Xcel is not sensitive to being around velcro, like the Hyperstretch is.
I'll throw in another thumbs up for Xcel suits. Girlfriend and I just picked up the 4/3 infiniti suits. Very easy to put on and take off. Almost no water gets in at all. Nice and toasty in 65 degree quarry this past Sunday.
