hey,

on my last dive, i brought a bottle of coke under water. the bottom was only 8 mtrs down. its pretty fun and really weird. when u open it (slowly) only the top 1/2 inch mixes with the ocean...so you hold ur reg in one hand and squeeze the bottle slowly to bring the unmixed coke up to the lip of the bottle, thenput your mouth up to it and "suck"! its also funny when you shake it up because when you open it all the coke sprays everywhere in brown swirls.:D

i also drunk it early in the dive so that air wasnt trapped in me for the ascent.

I am now intrigued, and must try it for myself.

I learned to drink carbonated beverages underwater from the Swiss. They always took a bottle of sparkling wine on one of their dives and swilled it underwater. If the water is properly cold this is a great thing. However, I tried to drink a soda in the lake with the water temps in the 80s and it was grotesque.

So - I guess it is true that the very experienced diver always hopes that the water is cold enough to properly chill the wine (or the watermelon)....
