I heard another possible explanation for the 'narcotic oxygen' theory: concentration of highly narcotic argon by some oxygen generating systems (pressure swing, membranes?)
Ambient air is ~1% argon, and is not necessarily filtered out by all systems that produce nitrox or 'pure' oxygen from ambient air. Have heard anecdotes about people getting extra narc'ed because of this
And nobody is testing for that?
