…EDIT: I've just formulated Storker's 1st rule of SCUBA gear: If it isn't negative, it will cause entanglements when you're not holding it.

Similar to mine but it goes more like coiled cords will cause entanglements.

Edit: On rereading, I can see that this comment might be perceived snide. It is not the intent in any way. I have just had unfortunate experiences with coiled cords of all kinds underwater.

That's interesting. I've had between 50 and 100 dives with the coiled cord tether I linked to above, and except for when the housing was positive, I've had absolutely no issues.
