OK, I don't know how 100% this info is, but I went to my LPS today and was getting ready to get my new 7070. He said they were sold out and that he will most likely just get one more delivery before the 7070's are discontinued (!!!). I don't want to get a camera again where I have to scramble to get spare housings or a 2nd back up camera...anybody else hear of this???

I will not be surprised. The upgrading cycle is the only way the camera companies can make money. Frankly, think the best way to go is to get 2 cameras as they go cheap when dealers remove stock. That way, there will always be a spare. Anyway, I will check with the Hong Kong dealers. They usually have a good heads-up.

They have already discontinued the 8080, after the Evolt was launched. That is why it is so cheap at the moment.

Think the 7070 will last for at least another year. Then Olympus will probably replace it with a 10mp wide-zoom camera which has a strobe which will not fire in supermacro mode.

I'm still using the 3030. I've notice there are several pixels that have gone bad. Now there are tiny green dots in the picture.

I was also looking at a 7070 as a 2nd camera , but I see Yuzo is listing it as discontinued , and he is usually a reliable source .

That is weird. It is still listed as a current product in Oly's japanese website. And no new replacement has been announced. Lets see if any news comes out in the next few weeks. Yuzo may have had early notification.

I've heard the same thing, both 7070 and 8080 have been discontinued, but have seen any reference to 'official' announcements.

I don't know what I'll go to when/if my 5050's go kaput!
