Encounters with military divers

What an interesting discussion. I've met a couple of seals and other special forces guys. None of them seemed to be of the "If I tell you I'll have to shoot you" mentality. Having said that when I did work in Naval Research the ones who said that most were the ones without clearance!
!

I agree, with that the few that I have met. They had seen/been through enough to be over the macho crap and it is the wanna be's that are still all rah rah...

When I went to purchase a pair of Scubapro Jet fins the lady behind the counter asked me if I was a Navy SEAL. I said "No I am not." She said "Ahhh you guys never admit because it is against regulation right?" I told her that I am a purely recreational diver interested in buying a pair of Scubapro jets. She said "The whole world hates Scubapro jet fins except military divers and she can tell a military diver when she sees one!" After that she gave me a military discount even though I kept telling her that I was not military. The more I tried to tell her that I was not a military diver the more she believed that I was "maintaining cover."

WHich of you have been in contact with military divers? I mean assault frogmen, not armed forces' work divers. What are assault frogmen trained and equipped to do in a real war (not in training) if while on a mission they come across sport divers who might raise the alarm and thus endanger the mission?

I was Trained by one. All he did was run around in his Speedo and make little kids cry...

My step father is a retired Green berets special forces and my Advanced open water instructor was a retired Navy seal / seal instructor. and he was just like any one of use an a vary good diver and yes vary aware of is environment but all so vary military in how he did his class

Apparently my boredom level is so high that I just read this entire thread, but seeming that this all just seems rather irrelevant to anyone I feel the need to say if anyone DOES know any single SEALS who want to dive recreationally feel free to send them my direction...I'd be MORE than happy to entertain them ...Rome is so lovely this time of year...

I would imagine that the cutoff butter knife and scissors most politically correct scuba lemmings use today would be no match for a Kabar fighting knife. However, I go even odds with the SeaHawk.
