Is is funny that this topic is brought up.... I actually have to be careful when reading emails from employees because I have been known to be offended by some emails when it was not intentional. Actually had a manager counsel one of their employees because the employee sent me a message in all capital letters. I took it as being yelled at and informed their immediate manager to discipline the employee. Now the City Managers require their employees to send them the email so they can proof read before sending to me...

You think the fact that emails have to be proofed before being sent to you so you don't blow up over nothing is something to brag about? Mark me down as being glad I don't work for you.

Agreed...And if the city manager(s) work for him, he's been around a bit....Hmmmm

I love seeing the emails from the stupid people who reply to all, it makes my day ;)

Thankfully it only happens once in a while, every day might be tiresome. I used to have to send my draft of an email to be proofread, it seems certain people in my office cant spell, read or construct a sentence, but feel fine about changing my words to make the message completely different from the original intent! The best part in our paperless office is that you send them the email, they print it out and mark it up, then give it back to you to change to their phrasing - very resourceful.

Ummm killing more tree's why do we go automated anyway? Still using paper so, ironic.

No, who said I was bragging??? I stated that I took the email the wrong way because of the employee using all caps...Yes, this employee was disciplined not because of using all caps but for the message that he sent...( Sorry, I should have been more specific). I do not require that emails sent to me to be proofed this is something that their City Manager requires. I would never send an email to my VP without ensuring that it is proof read by my secretary in fact, I always have my emails proof read before sending them out.

This means???? yes, I have been around for a very long time...you do not get in my position by walking in the door, it took years to get where I am at.
