Question: What was the cost to get to El Cid from the airport? Did you go by taxi?

we call this number 1-877-322-1881 (toll free from U.S), 01152 669 913 3333 ext. 33383 (from Canada), 01800 667 5801(toll free from Mexico) or email at airportshuttle@elcid.com.mx . they usually call us about 3 days prior to our arrival and ask for all this info so they can arrange for the free shuttle service for us. . you must tell them your flight number, time of arrival, number in your party and how many pieces of luggage. You can not get a taxi from the airport, you will have to bag-drag to the road in front of the airport to hail a taxi or you can rent a car on site...lol... by mexican standards this means walking 200 yards to the main road and finding your rental agency... on site means you can see it from the airport parking lot... its the mexican way. AVOID ALL PEOPLE IN THE LOBBY OF AIRPORT THEY ARE SALESMEN FOR TIMESHARES. el cid pays for your ride to the hotel but you must pay to get back to the airport from the hotel that will run you about 14 dollars plus tips for luggage handeling. Remember to tip the bus driver when he drops you off at el cid about 1.00 per piece of luggage.

last time we were there was about 5 months ago the el cid rep. was "OSCAR" he has been our el cid rep at the airport for well over 2 years so that should be who you will be directed to.

Just a quick note: if you do want to rent a car wait till you get to el cid and there is a rental place right out front think it is Budget but not sure... check google earth at street level and you can see it. ENJOY:D

What wonderful info..La_diver.....Do you know if there is someone to talk to about the rooms at E Cid? I would love to take you suggestion about the 3rd building so i can get WiFi...Do you know if the rooms have 2 beds??

you can look on the internet and call the 800 number i usually use my skype thru the computer and call the mexico number. The girl at the front desk you want to talk to is Maria, she is wonderful, just tell her about your stay (date of arrival and length of stay) let her know you want to be on the older 3 story side NOT the tower and ask if she can help you with that. Let her know you are divers and need to be close to the dive shop (which is on the 3 story side of the resort) if she can't get you there at 1st let her know you can move after a day or two and she will go out of her way to help. I always buy a Tres leche cake (3 milk cake) at mega and make sure i share with the front desk. Also if you plan on diving with babieca the on site dive shop which is wonderful you will need to email juan carlos to save you space on the boat, the boat only holds 8 divers so you need to book your spot before they are all gone. If you need more info private message me. Hope this helps .... Pam la_divers wife... he is really bad a typing lol.....

Sweet..Thanks Pam...Are rooms ok? Do they have 1 bed or 2???? Was there anything to look out for???

I know they have double beds in the tower. But in the 3 story older section all rooms have a murphy bed along with a reg bed. Ours is usually a full size bed plus a dinette set, muphy bed that looks like a sofa, a kitchen with stove top, microwave, sink , all reg stuff (blender, toaster etc) plus refridgerator. So even if you walk into your room and see one bed you will have another hidden in the murphy/sofa. Can't really think of anything to avoid, just tip everyone and a little kindness goes a LONG way. I do always tip the housekeeper early on and we get wonderful service our entire stay. P>S> if you dive with Babeica make sure you get a free locker for any extra stuff you want to keep close to dive shop. Anything else you need just ask and i'll try to help. Pam

We traded our timeshare into La Cieba last August while looking for our property. Stayed on 9th floor in a 1Bdr Suite. It was fabulous! Two seperate rooms. Bedroom with king bed & own bathroom & balcony. Other room had the kitchenette, another bath & balcony & a queen murphy bed...this is not a sleeper sofa. Furnishings were all very nice. TV's in both rooms also, if you're inclined to watch the tube. Opt out of the All Inclusive...for the cost, it's easier & less expensive to eat breakfast there & go into town for lunch or dinner. Agree that Babieca is a very good dive shop...everyone was great! Liked the later morning dive departures as we didn't have to rush through breakfast.

Since we were looking for property, we did go to the timeshare presentation & actually got a pretty good offer by the time it was over(like 6 months usage, free diving & food for around $100K, but we just couldn't pull the trigger on another timeshare) Did get massages, 2 days car rental & discount on whale shark expedition at Isla Mujeres.

You'll enjoy your stay there.

Mike

Wow Mike call El Cid and ask them to put us into that room....I don't think they will mind we only paid $90 a day

If you do take timeshare presentation you will have go to the mainland. It took us most of the day beginning in the morning. We did get our diving at a very discounted rate, but wouldn't do it again.
