A man drowned in a suspected diving accident Saturday in the southern city of Eilat, while another diver suffered light to moderate injuries in a separate incident, police and medics said.
According to the Walla news site, the 52-year-old diver was found lifeless in the water by a paddle boarder. Police arrived on the scene with a boat and took the man back to shore.
Paramedics arrived on the beach and attempted to resuscitate the man but were forced to declare him dead on the scene, according to Magen David Adom. Police said they had opened an investigation into the incident.
The man had apparently been diving with his friend, with both being experienced at diving to 100 meters (328 feet), Walla reported. His partner was located underwater unharmed.

In another incident nearby on Saturday, medics said they took a diver in his 40s who was suffering from shortness of breath to Yoseftal Medical Center in the city.
