a buddy and I got the idea that it would be fun to go waterfowl hunting in egypt. can someone point me in the right direction. websites, tour companies, guides... any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

(yes i realize this is a scuba site. I'm a diver but interested in hunting info and thought this would be a good place to ask)

Dear weekender i have not been to egypt for duck hunting or anything in that nature although i love hunting here in the states. I am not quiet so sure there is waterfowl hunting in egypt in lebanon there isnt and as far as i know there is no real waterfowl hunting in egypt either hopefully i am mistaken but i do beleive there isnt.

Well I don't know anything about waterfowl hunting but in the diving areas (Hurghada, Sharm, Marsa Alam, Dahab, Safaga) any fishing or hunting uw is prohibited.

Wouldn't it be in the north - around the delta?
Maybe check some operators in Alex?
Alexandra Dive do more than dive - so if they don't do it - they may be able to point you in the right direction... also they answer email enquiries really quick.

Most desert in north and here(Sinai) is National park, would not reccommend any shooting out here. Do not think it was an appropriate post for scuba site, even if you are a diver. Deltas and desert sensitive areas that need protecting, not someone stomping about with a rifle.

There is waterfowl hunting in Egypt, but as far as I know it's not organised by any tour groups and more a case of "bring your own gun". There may be some people who organise such trip, but I really don't know cause it's not the kind of thing that would appeal to me. The areas where you would be able to hunt would be around the Fayoum area and the Nile Delta, but closer to the central swampy areas and not as far north as Alexandria, probably around Tanta, Damietta.

The authorities don't really approve of this sort of thing. Try the cairo gun clubs for more advice. Sinai is out (there is a war on between the govt and the bedouins), most of the desert is dotted with military installations and shooting may not be the best idea. Ive heard of the boy scouts shooting in Ras Mohammed so I think there are certain areas that its ok if you get permission before hand. The delta and fayyoum and along the river basin are really the only areas that you'll find waterfowl in abundance but the government prohibits foreigners from going to many of these places without a police escort (there is always a way to drive around the checkpoints if you look hard enough). Best of luck to you but I wouldnt get your hopes up. cheers
