EELs eating Lionfish

You don't need to trim the spines, they will eat them with them. But better to kill it and leave it for them to find then hand feed as it doesn't take long for eels to become aggressive toward divers, they quickly will start associating divers with free food whether they have anything or not.
 
I used to think that feeding lionfish to the sealife was teaching them how to eat em, but instead, it taught them how to look to divers for a free meal. After two moray eels who's approach was less than welcoming, I no longer will feed em.. Chop off their wooly heads and let the LF lay on the reef for everybody to enjoy.
