I don't think 121 votes is anywhere close to a representative number of the board membership to make such a broad statement.

One of the amazing things about scuba diving is the wide cross-section of people you come across. I'd bet that for every 'higher educated' person in your poll, there are just as many high school educated blue collar workers making mid to low 5 digit salaries, who dives and travels just as much. They just sacrafice more to do so.

Proud not to be in your 'Elite' catagory....

Dee.... oh dear.........was that a giant nerve that Landlocked hit?

Now am I to understand that you are ASSUMING that the "higher educated person" in the poll you are referring earns mid to low 5 digit incomes? You are chastising Landlocked for believing that such a general poll could acurately distribute the education variance of the group and then you ASSUME that he/she is using income as their basis for the term Elitist. You don't have to have a high income level to qualify as an Elitist.... I don't think the post was well thought out before sending but Seems as though you are calling the kettle black with your ASSUMPTIONS......IMO

Great normal distribution on the poll so far.

What is normal distribution and what makes it great:confused:

Normal Distribution would mean that the graph would be a bell curve. 50% on each side of the median or their is no skew to the graph.

What makes in great? Would not want to take a stab at that.

My degree and all the credit hours there after spent furthering my education were 110% completely worthless (up to 165 credit hours), a waste of time, and ruined my credit. While there are a few classes I enjoyed, I can't say that they truely helped in the scope of my profession. In fact, the only reason I am where I am now is completely on my own merit, hardwork, and determination. I don't agree that college should be an institution where you learn how to learn, had previous schooling done it's job that would have already been instilled. The only degree's I can see that are truely a degree of higher learning are those dealing with sciences and true hands on medical. I've been even further turned off of "degree's" by seeing how many colleges have lowered standards of admission, even offering extensive remedial classes, in order to drive enrollment up thus making more money. One of my professors said it best "Do you know what BS, MS and PhD stand for? Bullstuff, Morestuff, and Piled higher and deeper."

If I knew 8 years ago what I do now, I would have not gone to college at all, just done the tech school for knowlege in areas unfamiliar and been done with it.

Sheeze....hope my kids get more out of school than that.... I read that she said "blue collar workers in the lower income levels" are just as many and as avid of divers as the post grad educated.

<edit to add Dee's quote>

and I think the elitist tag came in the form of being higher educated....albeit, it's funny that most of the innernet divers are in the IT feilds....LOL
