Eddy Fin Strap Bolt Material

There's some whitish green corrosion happening on the bolts holding the fin strap on. Safe to use a steel brush bit on a rotary tool to get rid of it?

I would put Vinegar and water 50/50 in a sealable container and soak and shake the part then remove any left over verdegris with a nylon brush.

An old toothbrush and a little bit of white cooking vinegar will work wonders. A steel brush on a rotary tool is a little overkill.
