If you're SAC is, you know, reasonable - the waterheater turns you into a serious bottom hound. If you're a sipper, pack a lunch.

but generally on NDL air profiles to 100ffw you'll have LOTS of gas left. partly why I chose 130 was because of the extra gas not the extra bottom time
I never really considered the Eclipse 30. partly because it wasn't in stock at my LDS and apparently everyone else got the 40's... lemmings.... works for me

Back to the question at hand,

I went with the 40lb Eclipse. I found that most formulas indicated that a 30lb would be marginal at best with steel tanks and a 7mm compressed at depth.

I also noticed a very large reduction in my drag going from a jacket to the Eclipse. You might find the 30lb has a smaller profile, but I didn't see a noticeable difference in the shop. I suspect both use the same outer shell. Either way, I'm quite content with mine.

I use a wing with 26 pounds of lift. I use it with my 5mm wet suit and my DUI dry suit. I dive LP steel 80's. I use 16lbs of weight with the drysuit, and 6lbs of weight with the wetsuit. And it is more than enough lift. I have used it in rough water in the channels between the islands here in Hawaii and the performance is perfect, with plenty of lift.

Huge reduction in drag for sure.

I always wondered why I was no good at the ol' kick and glide. Hard when you have the in water profile of a moving crate.

Ditto here. Just bought the 40# eclipse a couple weeks ago.

A bit off topic but...
How bout chosing between the Pioneer and the Eclipse ??? I know what lift I need but I'm trying to decide between on eor the other....anyone tell me pros and cons
