CrawfishDiver:
mmmnnn seafood

Funny, but true.

When I went to Belize, I saw lots of large Cubera and Mutton Snapper on most dives. The result: I had fish either for lunch or dinner every day for a week. :D

Mmmmmm ... fish tacos.

Actually, the tastiest thing I found in Belize were the tamales that the guy on the beach was selling out of a cooler ... :D

I don't each much before a dive, but after I always feel ravenous.

I always seem to want to chow down after a dive. I usually have a good breakfast and maybe some sort of snack during the S.I. I usually want something hot and hardy to both warm me up and fill me up.

For me, it really depends on how cold I am, and how quickly I get to the food. If I'm cold and the food is hot and nearby, I overeat. If I'm not cold, or I have to wait a while (and warm up) before food is served, I have much better control. Some primeval part of my brain thinks food will make me warmer. An awful lot of creamy clam chowder has gone down the hatch since I started diving . . .

I get so hungry, I always take something on the boat. I think my blood sugar really drops.

Roasted chicken, peanut butter and jelly, cheese, grapes....Clam chowder.

People that get seasick hate being around me.
Then, I go drink a beer or two.

I know weight loss is "just math" BUT...something about diving makes people lose weight beyond the calories burned. I always wonder about the effects of dropping your body temperature, etc. I have watched people, especially Instructors who mostly teach...when they start diving a lot, working on a boat...the weight just melts off.

Interesting. There is obviously something increasing the amount of calories they're burning. Could certainly be calories being burned to maintain warmth. If you dive regularly enough, I would bet that adds up. Also, hearding a boatfull of cats in scuba gear also has to burn just a few calories. :D

... or perhaps it's more due to the difficulty of snacking while you've got a regulator stuck in your mouth ... :eyebrow:

I see an untapped market here. Scuba Instructor Snacks that can be carried in your pocket and then consumed WHILE DIVING. Kinda like the Gu (No ... not GUE, Gu ... as in green and slimy) they came up with for runners and triathletes, but that is actually satisfying and tasty.
