Eastern Europe Recommendations?

Hi. My boyfriend I recently got OW certified on Utila and we're looking to do more diving in August in Eastern Europe. In fact, he would like to get AOW certified. We'd prefer a warm water place preferably with decent visibility and in a town that's more backpacker friendly than posh. Does anyone have any suggestions? We've been looking at traveling to Crotia to dive there, but I fear I'm a bit ignorant as to any specifics of diving in Crotia such as the visibility, cost, or temperature of the water. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
