Last Year my wife and I did Babylon and Anchor Point on the North East coast of Grand Cayman. These are both absolutely wonderful shore dives. We will be returning this summer and would appreciate any information on the other sites in this area that can be done from shore. We dont mind swimming to save $$$$'S! Ocean Frontiers has a list of these sites
http://www.oceanfrontiers.com/index.php?CAT=di&CID=sites_wall but looking at a line of marker bouys stretching along the wall it is very hard to tell one from another. We could always just pick a bouy and go dive it but if anyone has suggestions/favorites/points of reference etc. that would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I live on the north shore of Grand Cayman and work at one of the East End dive ops.

There are four buoys in the area that is called Babylon. All are along the edge of the wall. From west to east they are: Black Forest, Pinnacle, Babylon (aka McCurley's Wall), and Northern Lights. All can be reached from shore.

Anchor Point is also accessible from shore. The public access to the beach there is located about 200 yards east of the gates at the Barefoot Beach Gardens development.

So long as you can safely enter and exit the water (a BIG issue at some locations) the wall is accessible within swimming distance of the north shore from Frank Sound Road eastward. Parts of the shoreline are cliffs in that area and thus inaccessible. There are a couple of spots which can be accessed only via 4wd in a stretch between Babylon and Anchor Point. Look carefully for tire tracks a couple hundred yards west of Barefoot Beach Gardens.

In general, dive sites are not so easily accessed from shore on the south side of East End nor directly off the eastern tip of the island. Do not attempt diving in those locations without substantial local knowledge.

Additionally, there is an extensive NO DIVING zone along the north shore between Rum Point in the west and Frank Sound Rd to the east.

Finally, the shoreline is public in Cayman however you may not cross private property to reach shore without permission. A few spots are clearly marked 'No Tresspassing' so please respect the landowners' wishes.

I bought a CDROM titled "A Shore diving guide to Grand Cayman" some time ago. It lists shore dive sites all over the island and gives you good descrips of the access points and such. I found it to be really helpful. Well worth the money IMO.
