They have underwater cleanups right now at virtually every major lake in the state. The next in cumberland is this month I believe. You can find out more at Divers Den down in Somerset. Freeman Lake in Elizabethtown even has one. I don't know about Cave Run Lake...Yuk! Or worse...Lake Carnico.

I don't think there's anything in Lake Carnico to clean up except golf balls and dead fish! Thanks for the info...I found some info. online for a quarry cleanup in Hopkinsville and the one at Doe Run as well, and I'm going to look into the other cleanups that you mentioned.

If nothing else, since we're running on such short notice, maybe we can organize a cleanup later this summer as ckharlan suggested. I'm much more keen on the warm water myself! :D

Where is the one at Doe Run??? That is my old stomping ground. Let me know please.

Cincy,

The Doe Run cleanup is Saturday, April 26, 9am to noon. It's listed as "lake cleanup" and that's all it says, so I'm not sure if they are doing underwater or just around the lake. Call Kenton Co. Recreation at 525-PLAY (7529) for more info. There is also a number to register for a tour of the watershed by bus afterwords 491-0722.

PS- JBD mentioned that Central KY Dive center was doing one...not sure if this is the same thing or not.

When you said Doe Run I thought you were referring to Brandenburg area. All that area is known as Doe Run.

Nope, the one I found is around Kenton Co. Maybe the one JBD mentioned is the one you're thinking of?
