My girlfriend and I (both divers, her advanced, me 9 OW dives) are taking a trip - we have 2 weeks of timeshare at a resort here locally, but we get to trade world wide through interval. We want to dive, but all that diving over 2 weeks is alot, so we need some local flavour - day hikes, the sort.

We can "basically" go anywhere the list of places can be viewed Resort Directory | Home

Since we plan on going late January or early February, we want to avoid a rainy season or marginal dive conditions if possible. Warm water diving is a must. Also we want to avoid Mexico and Fiji - Shes been there done that.

Got any advice?

well, I looked at your choices on the list and here is what i would pick - All have great diving but since you want topside excitement too:
Belize if you would like to visit the Mayan ruins/jungle tours, Costa Rica if you would like to do jungle tour/zip lines/volcano tour, Caymans or Turks & Caicos if you want other water activities. Also there is Riviera Maya, yes it is Mexico and right across from Cozumel, but they have Mayan ruins and cenote diving.
For So. Pacific trip I would pick Bali and do the cultural tours in addition to diving.

Were doing Oahu next year and Belize the following year - Grand Cayman has been a contender, and ill ask about costa rica.

The reason mexico is out is that she and I have both been there - me as a tourist and her as a diver.

You are assuming that you will actually get to make the trade you want.

Post a question here about how swaps work "when the rubber actually meets the road" you may be disappointed!

Your list of possibilities seems pretty wide.

There are plenty of exciting destinations which offer both great diving and exciting topside activities. If you seriously want good quality diving then there is nowhere on earth that can compare to the Coral Triangle - where scientists agree is home to the greatest marine biodiversity on the planet.

How about a Thailand liveaboard or visiting the world-famous Sipadan or Komodo?

There are many other great destinations in South East Asia and I am sure that if you look around you will find exactly what you are looking for.

If diving is your main goal then take some time to read up on the best diving destinations in Asia.

Cheers
