I bought one and use it after every dive.

I also use the vented ear plugs to help keep the water out..

I have over 30 dives now without an infection.

Started to suffer from ear infections after diving or in pool for multiple days, something like this sounds good as the Doctor here recommends simply drying the ear with cotton buds (q-tips as our US Cousins call them) I am attempting to cotton bud my ears and give each ear an ear drop (antibiotic drops) after each dive but have now another infection !

Currently going through my dose of 4 different tablets and thinking that $100 is a small price to pay even if it stops half the infections I may pick up.

Some of the complaints -how long it takes, what you're willing to pay, etc. are a little silly.

If you suffer from chronic ear problems, the Sahara is certainly an effective tool in reducing occurrences of outer ear infections. If your ears respond effectively to alcohol drops, consider yourselves fortunate.

Additionally, treatment for ear problems was the feature article in the last issue of Alert Diver. It cited years of Naval studies on the subject. While alcohol is effective in evaporating water, the studies have found that rinsing the ear canal with freshwater and introducing prescription strength acetic acid (5 minutes per ear) to restore the proper ph is more essential in prevention of infection. Since my wife, who has had numerous infections began employing this method, along with the Sahara, her ears have been problem free.

I'm fairly certain that a few minutes of not being able to do anything else is worth it.

You don't really want to use anti-biotics as a preventitive measure. It can lead to resistant infections. Read the DAN research on other preventitive measures you can take.
