Live preview is potentially great, but, there are some issues. During today's dive with a 50mm macro lens, I notice a problem with using the live preview image to find the desired subject.

It seems like the lens "resets" after taking a picture. So, the image on the monitor is generally out of focus when you swim up to the next subject and try to find it on the monitor. Press the shutter button to get a rough focus, and then I can more easily find the subject. However, this is a hassle.

One solution is to set the camera to continual auto-focus (which is unattractive for several reasons). Otherwise, is it possible to set the camera parameters so that the lens does NOT refocus back to infinity (apparently) after each shot?

Any comments appreciated.

Rick, I am using the 35mm and do not use continual focus. Once I focus on something the camera keeps that focus point until I change it. So, if I take a picture at 3" from the port the next subject at 3" will be in focus. If the distance of my next subject is different, I have to refocus by pushing halfway on the shutter button.

Interesting. The Sigma 105mm doesn't reset between shots, either.

Is this also occuring with the 50mm lens when you shoot out of the camera?

The E-330 does have a lens reset option, but that works when you turn the camera off, not between shots.

My E330 and 50mm doesn't reset between shots, I believe you are just having issues with different subjects at different distances.
