So sad to hear about Martin. I only had the opportunity to dive with his shop once about a year ago, just before the hurricane. I had the joy of having a wonderful meal with his family one afternoon. My wife and I will be praying for the children and other family members in this loss.

Yes... Dive With Martin,Inc will continue running as usual.

After Shelley's death... Martin had been spending extra time with his children,, and his brothers had taken a more "hands on" approach at the diveshop. So it is very fortunate,,, because now they have months of "on the job training"... so everyone's diving should be "business as usual".

Martin's loyal staff is a testimony to Martin's character...
and the staff is even more dedicated now.

I am not aware of any formal program set up for the family...
I think some of the dive clubs have ideas in the works.

Many people have sent sympathy cards and / or emails of sympathy to my office, and I will take those down to the island for the family. The kids are still so young...any toys or stuffed animals would tickle them to death.

When asked.... I tell people .. Head to Cozumel or wherever your next trip is and.... DEDICATE YOUR NEXT DIVE TO MARTIN,,, nothing would make him happier!

Yes,,, the family updated the www.divewithmartin.com website yesterday with his memorial.

I also used this same photo off his website to send memorial information to some of our customers. I couldn't help but notice... he is wearing his "Sergio Memorial" t-shirt. Sergio is his triplet brother that passed away a couple of years ago.

The family is VERY concerned about these disrespectful solitations, scams...etc.
Those of you who know Martin, know how upsetting this would be to him.
Martin is a much better at "giving" than "taking"

The family's concern about this issue, is one reason I am very careful not to even respond to the donation question.... EXCEPT to DEDICATE YOUR DIVE!!

I can honestly say.... the only people I have been approached by are diving individuals wanting to send sympathy cards or toys to his kids. Good hearted divers who knew Martin or had dived with him.

Apparently the scams are out there,,,, But I have not personaly been approached by solicitors,,,nor seen any websites or ads pertaining these scams. So if you should come across an email or website pertaining to this... please,,, forward the information to us at sburton@airmail.net.

Please,,, just keep an eye on www.divewithmartin.com website.... if there is any sort of legitimate donations program evolving... it will be posted on his website.

I haven't seen any solicitations for donations either, but I do monitor several boards, so if I see anything, I'll be sure to let you know.

What's really cool about this picture of Martin is that his little girl took it of him. She and I were messing around with my camera one day. She was sitting in my lap and Martin walked up to talk with us and she snapped the picture of him. She caught the essence of him in that quick snap!

WE NEED PHOTOS OF MARTIN !!

I am sure that over the years... many of you have taken photos of Martin,,,
Above the water,,, underneath the water,,, on the pier,,,on the beach,,, hanging out... I know they are out there!!

Our local dive club thought it would be a good idea to put together a little
"Martin Memorial". So we are looking for ANY photos you have of him.
