I will be taking my newly certified 13 y/o nephew diving next weekend and need some advice on good shore sites. I dive Cape Ann/Salem so not familiar with that area i.e. parking/access/sites. There is a chance we might take my boat if it is ready but I want to have a back up plan. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like we will be doing boat dives now which opens up many more areas. Any suggestions on where to head? Not looking for secret spots and I will only be diving that area with my nephew (i.e. 2-3 times a year at the most). Any help would be appreciated.

High Pine Ledge off Duxbury always produces bugs and it can be a pretty dive. Or you could drive out and around the point and head south to MaryAnn Rocks, another pretty and productive dive.

Thanks! Looks like Mary Ann's rocks or maybe the Gurnet. We will have a 12:30 PM high tide so depending on when we get in the water, might try it. Hopefully the wind stays low.

I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all or question you or your nephew's ability. I just know the current around Gurnet is really strong. We were going to dive there last year off my boat and we just watched ourselves really move when we went to anchor.

High Pine Ledge can be tough with parking
I would agree with Mary Ann Rocks or maybe Warren's Cove since he's new.

Inflection is lost on the Internet :D I was being sincere and welcomed your advice. Doubt we will try Gurnet unless the stars and moon align and even then it would have to be the second dive (at slack tide) so I can determine his abilities somewhere else first.
We will be using his dad's boat that is docked in Duxbury so parking isn't an issue unless you meant boat parking over the ledge. Guessing that type of parking might be tough at Gurnet considering it will be Saturday, sunny and hot. We will have someone staying in the boat so might try a drift dive away from the packs.
