There's soaking the regs without it pressurized and then there's soaking the regs. If you soak it for five or ten minutes, then that's fine. If you soak it for three hours or overnight without pressure, then there's a good possibility of water working its way up via the 2nd stage. I can't imagine a reg so dirty/salty that a ten minutes soak can't cure and you have to leave it for hours on end submerged in water.

I soak my regs (his & hers) 6 to 10 hours. I have tanks and could soak them under pressure but I normally soak them using just the Scubapro inlet protectors as the tanks force me to use a bathroom tub rather than a more convenient container. I have never had a problem with water leaking into the regs. I don't really see why it would be fine for 10 minutes but not for 10 hours. 10 minutes doesn't begin to draw the salt from the crevasses it has been forces into by water pressures at depth.

That's fine if you have a pony tank dedicated to that. But my 13 cu ft pony drops pressure every time I pressurize the reg.

I am not sure I understand. Are we talking 50psi or 200? Wouldn't really make a difference anyway so long as the tank has around 500psi...

I believe he is ta;lking about not wasting the gas in his pony. (The cure for that concern is to get a transfer hose and never pay for another fill or vis.) My problem with using my pony is it only does one regulator at a time and I'm usually soaking 2 or three sets and sometimes more.

I agree, pressurized insures you will have no problem. But if done with just a bit of care and knowledge, there does not have to be any problem without pressure either.

Yep, blow it out.........Make sure there's a cat sleeping in the area if you want a good laugh.

THANKS! I NEEDED THAT!:D

:rofl3: I prefer not to hear about new gear for that reason now!
