Ok i do not claim to be a great experienced diver, i am cetified and have done about 50 dives, well tonight i managed to pull one of the dumbest diving mistakes ever. I was testing my new setup in a local pool set everything up, as i was just diving a 12 foot pool and i am at school i made first mistake and didnt go with a buddy, than i sat on edge of pool slipped on BC sholder straps and pushed off, well unfortunatly i failed to secure cumberbund and as a 130 with tank weight is heavy, it rolled right off my back, nice move there. Luckly a dive master from my LDS was there and took pity on me and helped me out. I shall forever be a more helpful and courtious diver as a result, cause i now see that screwing up is much easier than i thought

Any other divings funiest and dumbest moments are most welcome

Once I forgot to secure the cummerbund. When I was putting the BCD on, the velcro cummerbund managed to stick to inself and get stuck behind me. I didn't even notice until I went to secure "the brick" into the strap outside the cummerbund. I managed to fix it while my buddies were waiting patiently in the water.

I won't have to worry about that again now that I have a BP/W. I'll probably forget about the crotch strap a few times and jump into the water only to have my harness ride up into my armpits. Live and learn...

droped down with a snorkle in my mouth..
slipped belly flow off the swimdeck..
10 minuts hike.. 10 minut swimout.. look up at a night dive and saw my friends car head lights were still on..
dive site with 1500 psi in tank
well thats all im willing to tell

I didn't do this, but it was funny when my instructor told me.
"We were on a liveaboard and these two guys were very good top notch divers. They went through the BWRAF (dumb padi acronyms, begin w/ review and friend) and they were wearing the very best dive computers and dry suits. each one giant strided into the pool and signaled they were ok. then they called up to the dive master for their fins."

We tied onto wreck, and diver tieing on came up to report Whale shark swimming around the wreck. Both my buddies were fumbling about so i told them i would wait at 5m for them. Air on, check, camera latched, check, inflation, check, air on again , check. Jumped off dive deck and mid air spat out my reg and screamed "FINS" hit the water taking in a mouthfull of sea water and now in raging current with no fins and no line to hold, and couldnt shout for all the water i had swallowed. Swimming against a raging current in full kit with video, all the time looking up at the instructor who had his back towards me and telling everyone not to forget anything and double check their gear, whilst one of his DM's is flailing around like a mad man.

I jumped in to save the ever so valuable (not) bucket that held our tag line and float. No gear, only a wet suit half way on. For some reason when my Captain said, "Hey Vickie, jump in and grab that bucket" I said ok and jumped in. Never actually thinking about how I would swim back to the boat in the strong surface current. I'm happy to report back that our bucket still remains on our boat to this day, even if it did mean me bobbing in the 70f ocean trying to keep from inhaling water, to save it. :D

I had turned my air on slightly to check the gear on the boat and forgot to turn the knob to fully on when doing the dive. At about 20 feet or so, my computer started flashing weirdly. Luckily I remembered what this means and reached back to adjust the air.

Oh, and I've done the "seatbelt" thing. I have forgotten to remove the bungy that secures the tank while on the boat and tried to stand up. :lol2: I see other people do this every now and then, too.

Been there , done that... (several times) :D

Jumped in, descended to 5m/15ft, check my bottomtimer on my right wrist... wasn't there. :11: Compass was missing from my left wrist as well... :11: Good thing I remembered I had put them in my pocket... ;)

Rookie diver with single-minded determination: swam hard for 5 minutes against rough seas to reach descent line before realizing had I just descended a few feet I wouldn't've worked so hard and sucked down such a large portion of my air...
