What size numbers are required for display of 'Lobstah' license on tanks? Do regular "mailbox" type numbers hold up in salt water?

The easiest thing to do would be to hit Boat USA or West Marine or one of the other random boat shops and grab the numbers used to put the registration number on the side of a boat.

Mass Division of Marine Fisheries has a website that has all the regulation info. But, specifically, the numbers need to be black, 3" in height, 1/2" thick and displayed on your dive flag and each tank. I tried to put stickers on my dive flag, but that lasted about 4 seconds after it hit the water. Stickers worked on the tanks just fine, but had to use permanent laundry marking pen for the flag. Remember, you can choose your own 4 digit number(if you haven't done so already), so it will be easier to keep track of it. Good luck bug huntin'!

The easiest thing to do is not worry about it. Put the numbers on your flag. I don't know anyone who's ever been hassled about not having numbers on their tanks...if they bug you, tell them they are borrowed or rented.

They make little plastic things with a elastic-and-velcro strap on them allowing the contraption to be attached to your tank. I affixed the 3" high mailbox numbers on the plastic thing and it works like a charm. Good if you rent tanks or use alot of tanks and don't want to label all of them.

I found this contraption cheeply at a random LDS somewhere, but I'm sure you could make one yourself.

but they arent too hard to make.
