I'm thinking of putting some duct tape somewhere on my gear just as a fashion statement now!
This thread got me thinking, everything these days in shabby shiek, patinas, the vintage look. Why can't dive gear be that way?
I guess the difference is dive gear that if it is really that way from years of abuse then it has earned the rights to be funky, or it has to be fake aged to only look like it's old and funky.
The "real" old stuff is considered by some to be "unsafe", while the new stuff is safe but it's boring, and wannabe and rediculous if it's been fauxed to look old.

After reading through this thread, I'm going to put a few pieces of duct tape on my gear so it will look more experienced - than it is!

I just ordered a Dive Rite XT doubles regulator set. When it comes in, I'm going to let my kids drag it up and down the driveway by the long hose until it gets a nice patina.

ps: Wiener dogs will not apply a vintage finish to Atomic masks.

You fix up anything or alter anything to make it work, as long as it is safe. OR, you have a lot of $ and replace it.

I remember one time Uncle Pug used duct tape to "repair" a set of split fins so that they would function properly ... :)

... Bob (Grateful Diver)

I actually did it reverse and cut a size large mares fin to replace one of split fins I lost, it worked perfectly!!! One is blue the other black and yellow, I think this might be a new look for me.
I am not sure if this is duct tape diver, junk yard diver or better yet "ghetto diver"!!!
