Have you got the plate(s) or just considering? If not, I'd definitely go for a DSS plate! I have a DSS rig with both a SS plate and Kydex plate. The plates are the main reason I got the rig, they have the flatter profile compare to other plates and thus place the tank closer to your body. The DSS wing is also designed to go with a DSS plate, the wing has a set of guidance studs which match a pair of holes on the DSS plate. If you really want to use other plates, you'd have to drill a couple of holes to fit the wing. DSS SS plates also allow you to add weight plates, which will take a few lbs off your waist.

Here's a DSS Torus 35 wing with an OMS and a DSS kydex medium B/P's superimposed. The OMS B/P is larger and lighter hued than the DSS plate.

I am looking real hard at the DSS Torus wing. I already have an OMS B/P.

I purchased the DSS Polypoint chest rings. I liked the angle they induced in the webbing and two extra attachment points if you want.

If you're using a STA for singles, any wing should work with any plate, since they'll all have standard 11" spacing for the holes. Occasionally there are slight issues with mixing and matching, but generally nothing you can't overcome.

If you're not using an STA it gets a lot sticker, and varies considerably by wing and plate.

If you're diving doubles, again, any wing should work with any plate due to that standard 11" spacing.

Since no one really answered the question. Yes I use the 17lb wing from DSS w/ a OMS AL plate. As a prior poster mentioned w/ the STA there are no issues. Everything fit with no problems. I haven't tried it w/out the STA but it might work just fine as well. I'm very satisfied w/ the rig as my tropical travel rig. I'll probably try it w/out the STA soon as I'd like to shave a little more weight off the rig.
