I'm having difficulty sourcing a genuine SK7 for my DSS mount. All I can find locally are either generic copy or Saekodive compass. They look very much like SK7 and I've seen some mounted (but not sure of the mounts were DSS or local copies?)

Probably a silly question - any had success fitting a non-Suunto into the DSS SK7 mount??

Yes. I've been using a 10 dollar compass in one since my second SK7 also developed a hairline crack in the face. My SK7s were genuinely flawed.

I just put a Genisis (Oceanic) "supertilt" module in my DSS mount. It snapped right in; doesn't quite bottom out but is still no taller than the Suunto. Oh, and the bezel is attached to the module and has a nice crisp bearing-like action.

"If you do not mind used", I've got two used SK7s that work perfectly on land. Good for hiking and driving through the woods, or.............just wandering around the neighborhood.
